Facts in Five - Trivia Game
Dec 20th 2011, 11:02

The Basics:

Designed by Richard Onanien, Facts in Five was first published in 1967 by 3M. It has also been published by Avalon Hill, Schmidt Spiele, and University Games.

Why Facts in Five is Part of the Games Timeline:

Facts in Five was the first "category" game, a direct ancestor of games like Scattergories.

Here are the other games I believe are the most culturally and historically significant games published since 1800.

More About Facts in Five:

One player draws five cards, each containing a "class" (e.g. "Living Celebrated Persons") and a list of "categories" (e.g. "American") in this combination trivia-party game. A category is chosen for each class, and five letter tiles are drawn. Players have five minutes to come up with a list of 25 words (one beginning with each letter in each of the five class/category combinations).
